Part 1: 10am -12:30 pm
(lunch break)
Part 2: 2:00pm - 4pm
In this day-long vocal workshop, participants will have the opportunity for a deep-dive devoted to exploring the range of their voices and “widening their permissions” of what they thought vocally possible. Wearing eye masks, participants are invited to feel comfortable and unobserved, facilitated to freely sound with their voices in a way that is non-performative. The group will be guided through a series of sounding circle vocal journeys utilizing specific invitations with visualizations and parameters, plus time in between for debriefing and talking through the imagery and sensations arising through these group-authored experiences. With the process of repetition, a deeper level of insight and guidance may be revealed from the psyche. Time for journaling and processing will take place during rests between vocalizing, with a longer lunch break in the middle of the day.
In this intensive workshop, Joule will also teach aspects of her unique facilitation method for those wanting to to learn more about how to safely, effectively, and ethically facilitate sounding circles for the voice. Each session is a unique “explorience” co-created by the unique attendees of each session, such that participants may experience joy, a release of emotions and endorphins, and emerge from this practice feeling clear, energized and empowered to use their voices in their life and art.
Students of sound who wish to go deeper with their vocal explorations guided in an extremely comfortable, sensitive and empowering setting. Though not a singing or chanting course, aspects of singing and chant are incorporated into the wider range of human vocal utterance to be experienced, with a focus of utilizing the voice as a tool for self-regulation and for achieving flow states. Students will leave this workshop with protocols for self-practice along with basic guidance for how to hold space and guide groups of people in vocal toning practices.
